Proper oil needs to be used, and oil changes around 8K kms, proper warm up procedures etc. Things I have replaced personally on the M6. * Bearings - Cost was about 10K, however I did this myself, and would recommend it to noone, rather take it to tunetech. * Actuators - They wear quickly as they are plastic.
The potential mechanic ghosts of this M5 (E60) worry me from the standpoint of one fix after another. I don't fear working on a car. I have done head gasket jobs, clutch replacement, rear end replacement and so on on the vehicles I've owned.
The only real difference is the location of the bleed screws. In fact, the radiator in the second video appears to actually be an E34 radiator. - Some of the parts of the cooling system from the factory are made of plastic that, over time, will fail. The upper radiator neck is a common breakage point.

But used xDrive50i models fitted with the N63 'hot vee' unit and currently beyond warranty are ones to avoid, especially considering BMW's class-action lawsuit over the engine.

Because M5 E60 is a rare car and in Turkey, the rarity adds up to the price a lot. If the car is bad, price will be ~$60K, when it's average condition that jumps to ~$90K . I also saw a listing that has a BMW which is at 60K miles and 2008, price was $120K. So in my latest calculations, building the engine from start costs ~$40K .
